Faux Silk Card

We recently made this card in a workshop. It isn't colours I would usually use but the workshop hostess asked to use brighter colours and this is what I came up with. It uses the faux silk technique. Stamp sets are Occasional Greetings and Petal Prints. Colours are Purely pomegranate, Blue bayou and So saffron. Inks are Purely pomegranate, Blue bayou, More mustard and Wild wasabi. I used the So saffron and Rose red markers for the sentiment. Accessories included Blue bayou ribbon and tissue paper.
What do you think? Should I keep experimenting with colour or go back to my conservative ways?

EXTRA EXTRA Hostess Promotion

If you have been considering hosting a workshop, now is a great time to do so.

Stampin' Up! is offering and EXTRA $50 in hostess rewards when you submit a $700 workshop between 1 June -15 July.

I have already had one hostess benefit from this promotion. She had the option of choosing a level one or level two stamp set and then instead of having $80 to spend on free products she had $130 to spend. I think she is still walking around with a big grin on her face.

If you would like to benefit from this great promotion by booking a workshop, please book me for a few hours of fun between the 1 June and 15 July. Gathering a order of $700 in this time would also work in your favour for this promotion.

eScape

I once read that being sent a homemade card is like receiving a hug in the mail.

On 25 June 2008, Stampin’ Up! is taking the day to unplug and unwind, and reconnect on a personal level with friends and loved ones through handmade cards. And we invite you to eScape with us throughout the month of June! Take advantage of the 25% discount on products in the eScape bundle to help you create that special message from the heart.

The eScape Bundle includes the Love notes assortment (p.132) $13.50, with the Circle of Friendship stamp set(p. 112) $33.95 and the 1-1/4 Circle punch(p.142) $30.95. These three products together normally cost $78.40 but will cost you $58.80 if you buy the three products together this month.

Please contact me if you are interested in this great promotion and I will happily order it for you.

All Quiet on the Western Front.

Well if you know Albany you will know that although it is in Western Australia, it is more south than west. So I suppose it has been all quiet on the Great Southern front. LOL. I apologize for my absence. It has been a busy month, with workshops birthdays and the big scrapbooking weekend away( I will post these pages when I am feeling brave). I have made promises that on the long weekend that we have just had in WA, I would update this blog. This might have been the case if we had miserable weather of if the local swimming pool hadn't re-opened after months of refurbishment. But as they say it is better to be late than never.

To start with I want to inform you of all the exciting things that are happening at Stampin' Up this month. There is two promotions to get you excited. They are the eScape promotion and the Extra Extra Hostess Promotion. More details will be posted on the next posts.

Talented Tracey

This pocket card was created by my scrapbooking friend who is also a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.
It was made for other demonstrators to make copies of at our most recent gathering of Albany (and surrounds) Stampin' Up group. It was really exciting to come home with 11 cards from this day for my display folder.

Although Tracey's cards are inspiring (as you can see from this picture), it is her scrapbooking pages that take your breath away. So much time and detail goes into all of them but she is also the most productive scrapbooker I know.

This card was made using Outlaw double sided designer papers. Stamp sets included Finest Flourishes, Lexicon of Love, Party Punch(hostess) and Totally tabs. Card stock used were Naturals ivory, Really rust and Close to cocoa

Chalk Board Card

I don't know where I got this card layout from. I have altered it to make the chalkboard flower as the feature and I am really sorry that I can't remember who inspired this card. I must admit it has been a popular card with my friends before we added the chalk effect and it was a lovely card for a workshop last week.

Stamp sets- Heartfelt Thanks, Occassional Greetings.
Cardstock- Whisper white, Mellow moss & Basic Black.
Ink- Basic Black
Accessories- Slit punch, gingham ribbon, Stampin' Pastels®.

For those of you who regularly visit Split Coast Stampers, Occasional Greetings is called All Holidays on this site.

Experimenting with the New

Nancy was kind enough to make this card for me. It has so much new, new, new in it. Card colours like Soft Sky, River rock with Chocolate chip and Whisper white. Stamp sets are Tres Chic background stamp and Think Happy Thoughts. Oh and I still love that scallop circle punch. The Soft sky double stitch ribbon finishes it so nicely, don't you think. This card is simple yet effective.

Big Pieces & Little Pieces

I suspect that you don't visit this site for my cheerful conversation and it's the pretty pictures that keep you coming back.  So here's another sample to keep you smiling. This is a card that I made for a male birthday card using Big pieces stamp set.  It started out as a Black & White card challenge using a beautiful piece of ribbon. As you can see I failed. I didn't use the ribbon and added red to the mix. The card has Basic black (ink and card), whisper white (card), and Real Red (card).  I also used the It's Your Birthday stamp set (sorry I couldn't resist). This card is a simplified version of a card by scrapperaddict (Lisa) on SCS.

Thanks Mel

I only delivered Mel's Stampin' Up order a couple of days ago and already she has sent me pics of a stack of cards she has made. This is just one using Wonderful Favourites and Boho Backgrounds.  Both stamp sets are lovely and great value, especially Wonderful Favourites (page119, 2008/2009 catalogue) which has 23 stamps for just $39.95.  Mel also used the scallop circle punch.  Thanks Mel. With a bit of encouragement I'm sure Mel will happily show us more of her lovely cards.
